Anita Cowley is a collaboratively trained attorney as well as a seasoned litigator. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Toronto in 1990 and was awarded her J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law in 1994. Anita is admitted to practice law in Colorado and Georgia and before the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. She is a member of the Colorado Collaborative Law Professionals and was recently selected to join its Training Committee.
During law school, Anita was a member of her school’s Dean’s List as well as the National Dean’s List. She held the positions of President of the Legal Association of Women and Treasurer of the Student Bar Association. She was a recognized member in Who’s Who Among American Law Schools and was the research assistant to the Law School Dean of Students.
Since being admitted to practice law in Colorado in 1997, Anita’s practice has focused on civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution. She was an associate with the law firm of Moyer, Beal and Vranesic from 1997 through 2000 when she joined Ruegsegger Thomas, a workers’ compensation defense firm. In 2002, Anita began a solo practice that continued her emphasis in litigation. In 2004, she joined Gushurst Family Law and has been practicing exclusively in the area of family law, representing clients in both collaborative and traditional divorce cases.
Anita is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, the First Judicial District Bar Association and the Colorado Collaborative Law Professionals. Anita is an active runner, skier and reader and is an enthusiastic mother and cook.
