The Divorce Mediation Center of Suffolk was founded in February 1998 by Alan L. Finkel, a matrimonial attorney whose separate law practice is located in Suffolk County.
Mr. Finkel believes that mediation is a viable alternative for couples who wish to minimize the hurt and the anger that often accompanies a divorce. Trained in family and divorce mediation, he continues to actively practice matrimonial litigation in the Courts of Suffolk and Nassau Counties.
The Divorce Mediation Center of Suffolk County offers a peaceful, compassionate alternative to divorce litigation.
Benefits of Mediation
Mediation can make a bad situation less painful and far less costly than litigation by avoiding the emotional and financial strife often caused by divorce.
Here's how:
- Eases tensions and conflict
- Offers greater chance for compliance with terms of agreement
- Saves thousands of dollars in legal costs
- If children are involved, greatly improves co-parenting schedule and operation
- Mediation is confidential and prevents public exposure of private family matters
- Mediation is effective because both parties create settlements based on voluntary agreement
- The mediator merely operates as a neutral third party
- All mediators at The Divorce Mediation Center are also matrimonial attorneys
- Overall, mediation saves time and money
