My Husband Has Lost His Mind

Question of the Day:

I think my husband has lost his mind and needs to be on SS disablity. However, I still want a divorce. Can one of my children or I become his guardian so he doesn't spend all his money on drugs and alcohol? He also has a work comp & wrongful termination suit he needs to file. Can we somehow do this for him? It's been since he lost his job that he's lost his mind. – Sandy

Answer:

Sandy: You can petition the court to have a guardian appointed for someone who cannot manage their own financial or other matters. If the court agrees and appoints a guardian, then the guardian can do all things that the person could do.
