How Do I Serve Him?

Question of the Day:

My husband and I have lived apart for over a year. He cheats on me and refuses to help pay rent or put his name on any thing. We have our own checking accounts and no kids. How would I go about serving him with papers and how hard would it be to get information on our taxes? He keeps every thing locked up at work. – Lynn

Answer:

Lynn: Your local court rules set out methods of service. Here we can serve by mail or by handing a copy to the other spouse. We usually hire a private process server. You can order copies of your tax returns from the IRS or use the court discovery rules to ask your husband to produce copies.
