Typical Day for a Divorce Attorney?

Question of the Day:

What is a typical day for a family law attorney like? – Amalia

Answer:

Amalia: I don’t think there is a typical day because every day brings new challenges. I start this day in a three hour mediation where we were trying to divide marital assets and agree on alimony. Then I go back to my office to deal with mail, email and phone calls about the details of other cases. One attorney wants to know why my client’s income went up this year for child support calculations. I am preparing questions to ask another client and his witness for an uncontested divorce next week. Another lawyer wants my client to pay half of last year’s taxes. I call another attorney to ask if his client has a counteroffer. If I find the time, I will contribute to my blogs and send my e-newsletter. All in all it is very interesting, exciting and stimulating to me, and the day goes by very quickly!
