Offering Non-Adversarial Alternatives to Traditional Divorce & Family Law Litigation

Separating from your partner or spouse is stressful, regardless of the circumstances. Transitioning from one household to two can place emotional, financial, and logistical stress on all involved and can be especially hard on children. Unfortunately, the traditional courtroom divorce often intensifies this stress because it is usually expensive, combative, and emotionally draining. And unless you and your spouse can reach an agreement, decisions impacting your finances, property, and children will be made by a judge using the law as the sole criteria in determining your future.

Today you have a choice in how to end your marriage, domestic partnership, or intimate relationship. Mediation and Collaborative Practice (CP) are non-adversarial, client-centered options for those who want to stay out of court and resolve their family law issues with support, respect, and privacy. Limited Scope Representation offers assistance for people “doing their own” non-contested divorce without the cost of “full scope” attorney representation.

Ariel Winger is an experienced and skilled attorney offering compassionate and cost-effective services as a mediator and collaborative lawyer. Ariel believes that the client (not the judge) should ultimately decide what is in her or his best interest and that lasting legal settlements can be reached when both parties are committed to working toward a non-adversarial resolution.

About Ariel B. Winger,  Attorney at Law

Ariel Winger began her legal career as an advocate for abused women and children in 1989. For five years, she served as a Staff Attorney and then Senior Staff Attorney at Family Violence Law Center, a local non-profit where she litigated restraining order and custody/visitation/support cases for battered women and their children.

After the birth of her second child, Ariel moved beyond domestic violence cases to traditional family law. No longer working in the field of non-profits, Ariel became disillusioned with the excessive cost, competitiveness, and antagonism that permeated most family law cases. Discovering collaborative practice and mediation as a viable alternative to litigation, Ariel opened her practice in 2007 with the desire to help couples, especially those with children, divorce and separate in a holistic, respectful, and cost-effective manner.
