Carpool, sick days, meals, chores, job responsibilities all take on new meaning when parenting alone. When a child needs to stay home or get to an after-school activity then it means finding a babysitter, missing work, and everyone’s schedules have to be tightly organized.

During the first month of separation, many emotional, mental, and often financial strains affect the new single parent that compound the responsibilities of caring for the children. The children experience confusion, sadness, and they often withdraw or resort to bad behavior in order to deal with the stress of the new situation.
