A graduate of Carolina Christian University and Regents College at the State University of New York, David began his law practice as a sole practitioner in Seattle, Washington.
Early in his career, David volunteered as a Pro Bono attorney for the King County Bar Association’s Family Law Mentor Program, helping less fortunate families with their legal problems, often involving litigation. David was a graduate of the Washington State Bar Association Clerkship program that involved a four- year clerkship with two noted Washington law firms.
Named a Rising Star by Washington Law and Politics Magazine, David was elected to and serves on the board of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and co-founded the Domestic Violence Attorneys Association, a non-profit group dedicated to disseminating information and improving the Domestic Violence defense bar.
David’s practice emphasizes divorce and family law, wealth preservation and business succession, and criminal defense. David was formerly a partner at Veitch, Gaston & Kennedy, as well as at the Kennedy Law Firm. David is known for his tireless work ethic and his zealous representation of his clients. He lives in Monroe with his wife and three children.

Having worked in the legal field for almost 14 years in a number of different areas including family law, criminal defense, guardianship, trust and estate planning, personal injury/medical malpractice, product liability, complex commercial litigation, and real estate, Jack has devoted his professional life to tough advocacy for and compassionate counsel of his clients. He is committed to providing thorough and effective representation to protect his clients’ rights and interests, to resolve matters in the least litigious and most cost effective manner when possible, and to take an aggressive stand as his clients’ advocate when litigation becomes inevitable. Jack endeavors to treat every case as if it were his own.
Jack’s practice at Kennedy & Berner, LLP is centered on helping people with family law-related matters including complex litigation, and estate work. Other types of cases (e.g., personal injury, medical malpractice, etc.) are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Service to the community has been a priority to Jack and he has so served in his capacity as Settlement Guardian ad Litem and as a pro bono attorney for non-profit organizations, receiving honors for dedicated service and outstanding support in 2005. Jack has also volunteered as a Russian interpreter at the University District Food Bank and served on the Seattle Commission on Children and Youth for a number of years. He even did a stint with the Seattle Seafair Pirates, a non-profit, fraternal organization.
Jack is a graduate of the prestigious University of Washington School of Law, where he received high marks, was on scholarship, and served on the Pacific Rim Law & Policy Journal. A Dean’s List student, Jack also received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington.
Jack resides in Mukilteo, Washington, and takes full advantage of all the natural wonders that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
