DivorceDoula, Inc. is here for you.
What is a Divorce Doula?
A childbirth “doula” is defined in dictionary.com as “a woman experienced in childbirth who provides advice, information, and emotional support to a mother before, during, and just after childbirth.”
A Divorce Doula is a Divorce Coach, experienced in divorce, who provides advice, information, and emotional support to help you in the birth of your new life after divorce!
Your Divorce Doula is a Divorce Coach; part Life Coach, part Mentor, part Consultant. Your Divorce Doula helps you with issues that don’t fall within the scope of a lawyer, financial advisor, or counselor’s services. Your Divorce Doula can also save you money by helping you prepare preliminary individualized wording for your Parenting Plan, Property Plan and Child Support Order to present to your lawyer. Plus your Divorce Doula can help you create a confidential, personalized plan that you can live by during those crucial couple of years after your divorce.
Your FREE Initial Consultation will help you decide how your Divorce Doula can best help you proactively gain control of your life. Working with your Divorce Doula as your divorce coach will help give you direction and security during the transition years after your divorce. A Divorce Doula is an integral part of your Support Team during this time of life transition.
Our Services
You create your personalized plan from the following checklist. Where ever you need assistance, your Divorce Doula is here to help you!
Your 10 Point Plan
1. Assist you with preparing a preliminary individualized Parenting Plan and Child Support Order. (PLEASE NOTE: consult an attorney before you finalize any legal document, but avoid paying attorney’s rates to create your legal documents!)
2. Assess how much money you will need to earn to survive as a single individual/parent and create a customized monthly budget that you can live with for the next couple of years while you get back on your feet.
3. Create a Credit Spending Analysis and Budget.
4. Devise a plan to pay off your credit cards, and if necessary help you find a debt-counseling service.
5. Create an organized filing system to help you organize your financial and legal documents, customized to your specific needs.
6. Teach you how to reconcile your monthly bank statements with your check register, so that you know exactly how much is in your checking account each month.
7. Build your Support Team. Your Divorce Doula will help you find the people you need in any of these areas, whatever your personal needs are:
• Help you find a lawyer to represent you, and let you know what to look for in a good lawyer.
• Help you find a CPA, to assist with your new tax situation, and/or financial planner to help you plan for the long-term future.
• Help you find a lawyer to create or revise your will or trust.
• Help you find a licensed realtor, if one is needed.
• Help you find a counselor for yourself and/or your children.
• Help you find a mediator if you choose to use one or if you are court ordered to do so.
• Help you find a licensed child care provider in your area.
• Help you find career training.
• Help you write or re-write your resume.
• Help you do the paperwork needed to start your own business, if you choose to go this route.
• Help you find support groups, such as 12-Step Groups, Parents without Partners, Divorce Lifeline, Weight Watchers, etc.
8. Set up a car care schedule and checklist – when to get an oil change, rotate tires, get a tune-up, etc.
9. _________________________________ (You fill this one in. What kind of help do you need from your Divorce Doula in order to reclaim your old life or re-create your new life?)
