Elizabeth Reingold, Esq. is a collaborative lawyer and mediator practicing in New York City. She is past president, board director and co-founder of the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals. In creating the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals (formerly the New York Collaborative Law Group), Elizabeth hopes it will be easier for New York couples to choose a dissolution process appropriate for them and offer another option for those couples who don't want to litigate, but for whom mediation is uncomfortable or inappropriate.
Elizabeth has been practicing law for 20 years and for the last 13 years has limited her practice to cooperative dispute resolution, helping couples successfully achieve out-of-court settlements and assisting couples in resolving issues related to all aspects of divorce or relationship dissolution, including division of assets and debts, negotiation of appropriate and workable arrangements regarding child support, parenting schedules, spousal support, pension and retirement assets, small or family-held businesses, and many important, but not traditionally legal, issues related to relationship dissolution and family transition through the mediation or collaborative law processes.
In addition to her work with the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals, Elizabeth serves on the Practice Group Committee of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals (IACP), and on the Executive Committee of the Center for Mediation in Law, where she is a facilitator and trainer. A certified community mediator of the New York State Unified Court System, Elizabeth is also an Advanced Practitioner member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, an Advanced Practitioner member of the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation, a member of the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York, and a former member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Elizabeth has been a guest speaker on the topics of Collaborative Practice, Collaborative Law, and mediation for a number of professional organizations and law schools and has mediated for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the United States Postal Service, and the Safe Horizons Mediation Center.
Elizabeth received her B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton, where she graduated with Honors, and her J.D. from the Boston University School of Law, where she was an editor on the American Journal of Law and Medicine. Married for 15 years and the mother of a school-aged son and daughter, Elizabeth uses her dispute resolution training in every facet of her personal and professional life.
