There is no good way to end a marriage,
but if you are thinking about Separating
or Divorcing,
try Mediation … it’s the better way.
Welcome to New York Divorce Mediation, a co-mediation practice.
Separating and /or divorcing is probably the most emotionally complex decision you will make in your lifetime. NYDM respects and understands that and wants to help.
Our unique style of co-mediation combines the expertise of both a male and female mediator for each and every mediation session. At New York Divorce Mediation you will work with an attorney/mediator and a mediator with a background in school mental health plus marriage and family counseling. We have found that co-mediation affords couples more balance, comfort, and professional attention at costs comparable to those charged by most solo mediators.
In addition, NYDM provides a network of professional resources which include divorce and family mediation, therapeutic support, and legal as well as financial and career counseling services.
Until recently, all matters concerning separation and divorce were handled by separate attorneys for each spouse, in preparation for litigation. But now, with the assistance of your mediators, you and your spouse will become decision-making partners, rather than opposing parties in the court room.
We will help you and your partner to mutually identify and resolve all issues related to your separation and divorce, including:
After all issues have been resolved, your decisions will be drafted by an attorney into a Separation Agreement. Once properly signed, this document will become a legally binding contract which may be filed in court as the basis for an uncontested divorce.
