Wills, Trusts, and Probate Matters

Firm Overview

At Jan M. McCray Flemmons, P.L., my goal is to provide honest, informative representation for my clients. I use the latest technological advances to provide efficient, responsive service.

Philosophy

Every client is treated like my only client

  • My goal is to provide exceptional legal services during a challenging time in your life
  • I do my best to create a comfortable, candid, and nonjudgmental working relationship so we can discuss your situation freely and determine the best strategy for you and your family
  • Because your situation is unique, I give you an honest assessment of your case and promote realistic expectations regarding the proceedings
  • You may be fearful of what may (or may not) happen in the future, what comes next, etc. I help you understand the legal process, calm your fears, guard your rights, and give you guidance about how to proceed.
  • You should understand your legal options and be informed about the possibilities when making tough decisions about how to proceed with your case
  • While I personally prefer a collaborative approach, I strongly advocate on your behalf and aggressively prepare your case as though we will proceed to trial
  • We are two players on the same team, so I value your input and participation
  • By providing one-on-one personal service, I strive to make your case as easy, painless, quick, and efficient as possible

Service

  • I can visit you in your home, office, or another location for your comfort and convenience
  • For no additional fee, I travel within the Yulee/Fernandina area for routine appointments at your convenience
  • Evening and weekend appointments are available
  • Maintain a small caseload so you receive the personal attention and service you deserve—no getting lost in the shuffle
  • Personally handle your case and provide your legal services so you do not get lost in the shuffle or repeat your story multiple times to multiple people
  • Help you understand the legal process, what is happening with your case and why
  • Keep you informed of the status of your case and “in the loop”
  • Tailor my services to your personal preferences
  • Return calls and emails as promptly as possible, including evenings and weekends if needed

Technology

  • Maintain or have access to all of the same legal tools as larger law firms
  • My office is highly automated so I can provide efficient legal services which keeps your expenses down and gives me more time to personally attend to each client's needs
  • My Blackberry allows me to answer calls, and check voicemail and emails while I am away from the office. I will respond as promptly as possible.
  • No busy signals or unanswered calls. If I am with a client or on another line, you can leave a voicemail for me to return your call.
  • Clients receive a special phone number to speak with me for after hours emergencies
  • Many standard forms will soon be available on the Forms page so you can access them at your convenience

Military Families

  • I have had the pleasure of being a member of the military community for many years and am personally aware of the special challenges military families face
  • Contact me to see if I can help you!

Financial Considerations

  • All family cases are unique, therefore I offer different retainer options to suit your needs—we can discuss this in more detail at your initial consultation
  • I require a non-refundable retainer to be paid when you sign the retainer agreement. Because I maintain a small caseload, I accept or decline future cases based on the number and complexity of current cases.
  • All fees and costs must be paid in advance and are not included in the retainer amount.
  • I do not begin work on your case until your payment has been received and the funds have cleared the bank
  • I accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover as additional payment options
  • You will receive a monthly statement detailing the costs, fees, and expenses as well as the remaining funds in your account
  • It is my goal to stay on your projected budget, but sometimes that is not possible. I will notify you as soon as possible if an added expense will be necessary and we can discuss what options may be available.

My Profile

Personal

  • I was born and raised in central Florida. My husband is a member of the U.S. Navy. Over the last twelve years, his service took us to South Carolina, Washington state, and Connecticut, before we returned to make Florida our permanent home.
  • Before attending law school, I worked in a few law firms (where I found my passion for family law), interned as a probation officer, and worked as a Family Violence Victim Advocate. My unique background provides me with an exceptional skill-set to help you resolve your family law matter.
  • My interests outside of the law include international travel, ancient ruin photography, interior design, and relaxing at our beautiful Amelia Island beaches!
