John McKinnon Fowler of Fowler Law Firm has been a certified Texas mediator since 1997 and has a broad range of experience in the practice of law and mediation. Mr. Fowler’s mediation experience includes serving as a mediator, attorney/advocate, and as a client participating in mediation as a party. This broad range of experience, combined with his family law experience, has made Mr. Fowler well-equipped to handle the many different issues involved in divorce mediation. Mr. Fowler is a member of the Texas Association of Mediators and the Association for Conflict Resolution, and is a volunteer mediator for Dispute Mediation Service, Inc. in Dallas, Texas.

Mediation is a process in which a neutral person, the mediator, helps the disputing parties communicate and promotes reconciliation, settlement, or understanding between them.

Mediation:

  • involves the individuals in the process
  • deals with feelings and issues
  • is based on fairness
  • is less expensive than litigation
  • is a fast way to settle most disputes
  • is confidential and off-the-record

A mediator will not impose his/her own judgment on the issues or tell the parties how the dispute should be resolved. At the mediation session both parties have an opportunity to explain and discuss their sides of the dispute. If the parties cannot reach an agreement, they still have the option of using any available legal remedy.

Please contact us if you believe we might be able to help you resolve your case through the mediation process.
