Drawing on his experience as a Navy JAG officer, James Livesay is the lead military divorce lawyer at Livesay & Myers, P.C. His article, "Treatment of Disability Pay in Military Divorce," has been published on a number of online divorce websites, including Divorce Headquarters, DivorceNet, and WomansDivorce.com.
Mr. Livesay is a member of the Virginia State Bar (Member, Sections on: Family Law; Military Law), the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association, the Military Officers Association of America, the Virginia Tech Alumni Association (Fredericksburg Area Chapter), and is a Life Member of the University of Virginia Alumni Association. He has been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Virginia; the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit; and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Livesay earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the prestigious University of Virginia School of Law in 1998, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Journal of Law and Politics. Prior to that, he received his college degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1995.
Mr. Livesay served in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps from 1998-2001, where he received the Award for Trial Advocacy from the The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, Committee on Military Affairs and Justice, in December 1998. He went on to receive Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals on June 7, 2000 and September 24, 2001 (Gold Star in Lieu of Second Award).
Mr. Livesay entered private practice in 2002, and along with partner Kevin Myers formed Livesay & Myers, P.C. in 2003. The firm has grown steadily since, and now encompasses a team of lawyers and paralegals across three offices-- in Manassas, Fredericksburg and Fairfax, Virginia.
Jim Livesay resides in Fredericksburg with his wife and three children.
