Houston Mediation Services
Alternative Dispute Resolution Services
for Lawyers with clients involved in
Workplace Disputes – Family Law – Personal Injury Cases
Se habla español
Rendon Mediation has been providing alternative dispute resolution services for twelve years to attorneys and their clients as referred to mediation by the attorneys, the courts, or a government agency such as the EEOC.
Litigation is a costly and time-consuming procedure that can intensify negative emotions for the parties involved in a dispute, leading to increasingly inflexible positions and less-than-optimal solutions. Mediation services can be a less costly, less time-consuming method to help your client find an equitable and mutually agreeable solution to their dispute.
Why Refer a Client to Mediation?
- Mediation is cost-effective.
- Mediation is generally less time consuming.
- Mediation considers the emotional aspects of a case as well as the legal and financial aspects.
- Mediation can deescalate hostilities between parties engaged in workplace disputes, personal injury, family law, and divorce cases.
- Mediation yields results that are agreeable to both parties.
Even if your client’s mediation does not produce a successful resolution, the process of mediation can be of benefit to you, the attorney handling the case. Although facts learned in mediation typically cannot be used in court, the process gives you an opportunity to analyze the potential value of your case, the strengths of your case, and the strengths of your client as a potential witness.

Divorce Mediation Services, Houston, Texas
“Happy families are all alike;
Every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”
– Leo Tolstoy
In disputes involving divorce and child custody, the adversarial nature of litigation can exacerbate existing hostilities between the two parties. A client may “win the battle” at trial but “lose the war” by permanently damaging their ability to co-parent their children with their former spouse.
Mediation may offer a better solution.
In cases of family law and divorce, mediation services can be particularly effective because the mediation process considers the emotional aspects of the dispute. It can even have a healing effect on the two parties as they learn once again how to work together for the benefit of their family.
Rendon Mediation has been providing family law, divorce and child custody mediation services in Houston, Texas, for twelve years. Josefina Rendón has successfully helped people resolve disputes in the areas of:
- Divorce and Property Division
- Child Custody
- Child Visitation
- Child Protection
Josefina Rendón has undertaken extensive training in mediation, child development, child protection, and cross-cultural issues. A former judge of Houston Municipal Court #5, she has helped clients resolve over 700 disputes, is a nationwide lecturer, and has published numerous articles on mediation in family law.
Divorce Mediation Service - Models
There are several models of mediation. The mediation model must be appropriate to the issues to be addressed, the clients’ emotional, cognitive, and psychological development, and the progress that has been made in the divorce process.
For cases in which the primary concern is property and no children are involved, or if one of the parties has a concern about a mental health problem or a safety issue, then a caucus or private meeting may be the best option.
Bilingual and Multicultural
An interpreter may understand the words but not the culture of your Spanish-speaking client. Rendón, bilingual in Spanish and English, understands the nuances.
Culture expresses itself most clearly within the family system. Understanding the dynamics of that culture will be an important component in the successful resolution of family disputes. Josefina Rendón has extensive training in multicultural communications and has worked with clients from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
