Mediation is a process of resolving conflict without going to court. In mediation, couples sit together and with the help of a skilled mediator, work out a solution that meets their needs. At some point in the process, both spouses will probably consult independent legal advisors to make sure that their understanding of their rights and obligations is correct. Once an agreement is reached, it will be written up by the mediator and signed by both spouses. The agreement reached is legally binding.
Mediation usually is quicker, cheaper and easier on the family than litigating. It's great if it works! We can help you decide if mediation is right for you. It is more successful in cases where the decision to divorce is mutual and both spouses are able and willing to be honest, forthcoming, respectful and candid.
