Linda K. Wray
A Problem-Solver and an Advocate.
Linda K. Wray is an experienced Collaborative Law attorney. She has a client centered family law practice in Edina, Minnesota, focused on finding cost-effective and creative legal solutions for clients. She strives to preserve the dignity and values of her family law clients while providing effective representation through the legal process.
What is Collaborative Law?
Collaborative Law is a process of resolving family law conflicts using well-developed cooperative strategies in a safe environment, rather than adversarial techniques and litigation in the courtroom. Collaborative Law has three fundamental building blocks:
• An agreement not to go to court
• Open and honest communication and disclosure of all relevant information
• A shared goal of reaching solutions that encompass the highest priorities
of both spouses and their children
How Does the Collaborative Law Process Work?
Each party in the process retains a Collaborative Law attorney. A framework employing the following essential principles of Collaborative Law is agreed upon by all participants:
• honesty (full and complete disclosure of all assets, debts and
income);
• satisfying the interests of both parties;
• cooperation;
• integrity;
• professionalism;
• dignity;
• respect; and
• candor.
At the outset of a case, Linda assists her clients with identifying their interests and needs in the matter at hand, and with gathering information. The Collaborative Law attorney for her client’s spouse assists the spouse with the same. If experts are needed for any matter, such as valuation of assets or development of a parenting plan, Linda, the other Collaborative Law attorney and the clients work together to retain a neutral expert experienced with employing the principles of Collaborative Law.
At meetings designed to resolve disputes and reach agreement, the Collaborative Law attorneys and clients meet together. The attorneys focus the energies of the clients on generating a wide-range of options and solutions to disputed issues. Then, through the employment of analysis, reasoning and principled negotiations Linda and the other Collaborative Law attorney assist the clients with choosing solutions best for both parties and their children.
Linda has received extensive training in Collaborative Law, having attended local, national and international Collaborative Law symposia and trainings. She is an active member in the Collaborative Law Institute in Minnesota and is currently serving on its Board of Directors. She has assisted in conducting local trainings and was active in the founding of Collaborative Team Divorce in Minnesota.
Linda’s clients include both women and men, and come from all walks of life. She has represented nurses, psychologists, accountants, sales executives, attorneys, small business owners, teachers and homemakers. In all cases, she strives to find cost-effective services that meet her client’s needs, interests and goals.
She serves the seven counties of the Twin Cities metro area: Hennepin (Minneapolis, county seat); Anoka (Anoka); Carver (Chaska); Dakota (Hastings); Ramsey (St. Paul); Scott (Shakopee); and Washington (Stillwater).
