Firm Profile
Welcome to the Law Offices of Michael Kevin Murphy. For 27 years, the firm has been conveniently located in the City of Fairfax in Northern Virginia, close to the Fairfax County Courthouse and other local Virginia courts.
Mr. Murphy is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and is a former Army officer who served with distinction in Vietnam. He now serves our nation’s military in their special needs. With an honored and powerful legal background, a technologically sophisticated office environment, and a responsive staff, Mr. Murphy’s office is uniquely well-qualified to serve its family law clients around the world.
The firm is dedicated to providing outstanding legal service for military and federal government personnel, as well as their spouses. Civilians, of course, are always welcome. Although the majority of the firm's clients live in Northern Virginia, Attorney Murphy serves clients and the law firms with whom he associates throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, across the nation, and in numerous overseas countries.
Mr. Murphy's family law drafting and negotiations practice includes: premarital agreements; marital and property settlement agreements; parenting plans and child custody agreements; orders to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service to divide military retired pay and award survivor benefits; orders suitable for processing by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to divide CSRS and FERS retirement benefits; and qualified domestic relations orders (QDRO’s) to divide retirement benefits under ERISA.
The firm's practice includes litigation involving divorce, child custody, child support, and parental visitation. Mr. Murphy associates with and refers cases to other leading attorneys in certain other practice areas, such as criminal defense and defense of traffic violations.
