Nancy S. Caplan, Esq. is a licensed attorney in good standing in the State of Maryland. She earned the certifications required by the Circuit Courts of Maryland to mediate civil disputes and all family law disputes. Ms. Caplan is qualified and has been appointed as a civil mediator for the Circuit Courts of Baltimore County and Howard County, in addition to her private practice, located directly across the street from Towsontown Center, in the Courtyard Offices at Dulaney Plaza, 744 Dulaney Valley Road, Suite #1, Towson, Maryland 21204.
First admitted to the practice of law in New York and New Jersey, Ms. Caplan spent one year serving as Law Secretary to the late, Honorable Arthur C. Dwyer, Superior Court of New Jersey, Equity Division. In 1987, she relocated to Baltimore, where she practiced as an associate at two large Baltimore City law firms. During that time, Ms. Caplan focused her career on family law litigation, including divorce, custody, visitation, support, alimony and division of property. While raising her children she continued her work in the field of family law with her former husband. Having experienced her own divorce, Ms. Caplan was motivated to transition from law to mediation, which she believes is the appropriate forum for the resolution of the majority of family law issues. She volunteers her services for the mediation program of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Office of the District Courts of Maryland. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Family Law Section, and the Association for Conflict Resolution. She is certified by the Circuit Courts in Baltimore County and Howard County as a civil mediator, involved in matters of construction law and motor tort law, as well as separation and divorce mediation.
