About Us
At Partners in Financial Planning, Inc., we are committed to helping our clients meet and exceed their financial goals. We work with our clients to establish financial priorities and to bring order to their financial futures through comprehensive financial planning and ongoing management of financial assets.
Trish Goodman, president, founded Partners after she and her husband, John, faced some financial hardships of their own. In 1986, Congress passed the Tax Reform Act, eliminating the Goodmans’ write-offs on income produced by their real estate earnings and reducing the market value of their real estate property. In addition, John’s career ended when he was cut from the Pittsburgh Steelers. With no assets aside from their real estate, no liquidity, no diversity and no financial plan to speak of, the Goodmans were ill-prepared for their financial wake-up call.
Since that time, Trish has been committed to bringing the value of financial planning to the public’s attention. In the aftermath of the World Trade Center attack, Trish advised New Yorkers on dealing with the financial turmoil they were experiencing. She also shared with them her knowledge and understanding of the financial difficulties confronting Oklahomans after the 1995 Murrah bombing.
Trish is a 1984 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, earning a bachelor of business administration with a major in finance. In practice for 18 years, Trish earned the distinguishing CFP® designation in 1996. Trish is the past president of the Financial Planning Association's central Oklahoma chapter. In addition, she has been featured in guest appearances in local television as well as in the New York Times, Newsweek and the Journal Record.
Today, Trish and her staff of professionals work with individuals and families at every stage in their lives. From newlyweds to soon-to-be-retirees, Partners helps people manage their financial lives so they can live life to the fullest.
Why you need a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst
- Save time. On average, a divorce takes one year to finalize. In the early stages of the process, both parties spend an enormous amount of time trying to get a clear understanding of the financial implications of the separation. A divorce financial analyst can expertly help you assess your situation and empower you to make educated decisions.
- Save money during the divorce process. A CDFA will help you have a clearer picture of your financial future.
- Avoid long-term financial pitfalls. Working with you and your attorney, a CDFA can forecast the long-term impact of the divorce settlement. This includes details of tax liabilities and benefits. By developing a long-term forecast, you can make financial decisions that will take care not only of your family’s immediate needs, but your retirement needs as well.
- Avoid post-divorce financial struggles. A CDFA can help you think through what the divorce will really cost and help you develop a realistic monthly budget. For example, expenses such as life insurance, health insurance and cost of living increases should be taken into consideration when agreeing on a settlement.
- Reduce your apprehension. We’ll help you get a realistic grasp of your financial situation and what the future holds. Financial divorce analysis helps to ensure a good, stable economic future and prevent long-term regret with financial decisions made during the divorce.
