In addition, because of his advocacy skills, compassion and understanding, Mr. Milone is appointed in the New York State Supreme Court as the Law Guardian for children in their parent's custody battle. We have successfully handled contested divorce, child custody, alimony, child support, child support, child neglect and abuse, maintenance and domestic violence trials.

In addition to the divorce trials, Mr. Milone has handled other cases which require a high level of legal expertise, creativity and tenacity. As an example, he handled the first case in New York State that dealt with proving paternity by utilizing DNA test results obtained from a blood sample taken of a deceased father. The order of paternity was made years after the father had been killed. This case was a hard fought legal battle that required two trials, an appeal to the Appellate Division and a motion to the Court of Appeals.

Mr. Milone won at every stage of the litigation against a very prominent trial lawyer, recognized for his handling of news media clients. This case was widely publicized and written about in legal periodicals, including the New York Law Journal and Trial Magazine of the American Trial Lawyers Association, as well as being featured in the New York Post, written about in New York Newsday and featured in other news media.

New York Collaborative Divorce Law

Mr. Milone is a trained Collaborative Divorce Law practitioner and mediator; he is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the highly respected New York Collaborative Law Group. The New York Collaborative Law Group has been featured on the Today Show in the New York Times and New York Newsday.

As a trained Collaborative Divorce Law practitioner and mediator, Mr. Milone is able to assist his clients and their spouses to reach fair resolutions to very difficult family problems, in a non-adversarial, peaceful manner; in a case handled through Collaborative Divorce Law, the goal is to reach a fair resolution through open discussion and fair dealing, rather than litigation.

New York Divorce Mediation

There is currently no professional credentialing of mediators in New York State, as there is for physicians, lawyers, psychologists, etc. Any person from any walk of life can hang a shingle and call him/herself a Mediator. In selecting a Mediator it is extremely important that the mediator has been trained by a recognized school, institute or program.

Mr. Milone is a trained Mediator; he received his training at the world renowned "Center For Mediation In Law". The "Center For Mediation In Law" also trains in collaboration with other educational institutions, including Harvard University's Program of Instruction for Lawyers and the World Intellectual Property Organization. Since 1990, the "Center For Mediation In Law" has also been training mediators in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Israel. It is not unusual for professionals to travel from all over the world to obtain training from the "Center In Mediation In Law". The group Mr. Milone trained with consisted of lawyers and government leaders from the United States, The Netherlands, Russia, Brazil and Cameroon. The Center's model of mediation is used increasingly in legal disputes in commercial, family and other legal settings and the Center is considered to be one of the world's best training institutions.
