Attorney Sheila A. Duffy concentrates her practice in the area of family law. Sheila is a professionally trained mediator for family and divorce mediation. She is the founder of Duffy & Associates Mediation Services and has been active in the field of mediation since 1997. Sheila was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in 1986. She attended law school while working as a speech language pathologist where she designed individualized solutions for children and adults with varying needs and economic backgrounds. In addition to her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Cleveland Marshall School of Law, Sheila also holds a masters degree (M.A.) in Speech Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
Sheila has been hired by the Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children to conduct IEP Mediation and IEP Facilitation, both of which involve students who receive Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) services.
Throughout her career as an attorney Sheila has represented clients in dissolutions, divorces, as well as post-decree disputes regarding child custody and visitation. Sheila is a member of the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court Panel of Mediators and a Guardian ad Litem for the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court. As a Guardian ad Litem Sheila represented the rights of otherwise unrepresented children in high conflict divorces. She is a member of both the Center for Principled Family Advocacy and the Mediation Association of Northeast Ohio (MANO). Sheila has also been a trainer for the American Center For Conflict Resolution Institute. Sheila has completed Collaborative Law training and has served as a member of the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court’s Mediation Task Force. Sheila is an active member of the Center for Principled Family Advocacy’s Mediation Practice group.
