Where do I go from here?
Divorce is a major event in one’s life and is accompanied by a myriad of complicated feelings. Often divorce feels like the end of a well-known road with no map for the future. Self doubt and anxiety can take the place of what was once certainty, as this major life transition forces us to ask questions we thought had already been answered. We ask ourselves questions such as:
• Who am I?
• What am I supposed to do now?
• What will the rest of my life look like?
In this questioning our entire life may come under review as this transition often triggers other past painful experiences.
Therapy Services
Therapy can assist you in finding what awaits you as a chapter in your life is coming to a close. Through therapy you can discover how life transitions are not so much the leaving behind of people, things, and situations as it is the leaving behind the hopes, dreams and beliefs we attach to them. Knowing this difference will allow you to gradually envision divorce as the creation of something new rather than the end of the road.
My therapeutic style approaches each individual and each encounter as unique. It is not a matter of who you were supposed to be or should be; it is about who you are now, in this time and this place. I view therapy as a collaborative process. We will meet at whatever stage of divorce you are at. Together we will examine your strengths and utilize these strengths to assist you in building a foundation from which to begin making sense out of this transition and claim what life now has to offer.
Because trust is an integral component to effective therapy, it is important to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable. All potential clients are offered a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation. You can request a consultation by leaving a confidential voice message at 206-963-2946 or sending an email request.
