Thomas B. Concannon has been a family and probate attorney in Newton for over thirty-eight years.
In addition to handling all aspects of a traditional divorce, in recent years he has expanded his practice to include collaborative law and mediation. These methods of alternative dispute resolution have many benefits to the divorcing parties and give more tools to reach successful results.
Tom first learned the importance of negotiating in his three years of teaching fifth grade, while dealing successfully with students on a daily basis. He later used it as a survival skill during his four-year term as Mayor of the City of Newton. Throughout his legal and political career, Tom has learned that negotiating is not yelling or screaming to win; it is using logic and intelligence to win. It is an ethical way of winning. It is also usually more economical, from both financial and emotional perspectives.
Divorce is not new, but it has achieved a new viciousness as it has matured. Consider collaborative law or divorce mediation as an effective alternative to costly litigation.
“Divorce is an institution only a few weeks later in origin than marriage.” Voltaire
