The Mediation Group (TMG) is a nonprofit firm specializing in mediation, arbitration, facilitation, consensus building, training and consulting since 1985. Our public and private sector clients include government agencies, businesses, schools and universities, public interest groups, health care organizations, communities and families. The experienced professionals at TMG resolve disputes using a cross disciplinary approach. We combine dispute resolution skills with legal, social work, organizational development, business, environmental and public policy expertise.

We provide high quality, innovative ADR services in New England, throughout the U.S. and internationally.

TMG can:

  • help resolve disputes involving two or many parties
  • conduct training sessions ranging from afternoon workshops to comprehensive programs
  • consult on a range of issues including designing and implementing dispute resolution systems.

Why choose alternative dispute resolution (ADR)?

  • Lower cost
  • Lower risk
  • Higher return

Most ways of resolving conflict engage parties in adversarial contests, focus on determining a winner and a loser, frustrate the parties with delay, and do not yield productive, equitable results.

ADR is an effective alternative.

  • Economy: Compared to the costs of litigation or administrative procedures, ADR is inexpensive, and mediated settlements are paid faster and more frequently.
  • Self-determination: In mediation, the parties control the outcome and are not bound to a settlement imposed by an outsider.
  • Efficiency: Delays common in formal proceedings can be minimized, allowing parties to move beyond conflict more quickly.
  • Convenience: Parties can select a mutually acceptable neutral based on areas of expertise, location and availability.
  • Future Relationships: Valuable professional or personal relationships between parties can be preserved.
