About Us
Teddi Ann Miskulin is a Colorado native and graduated Creighton Law in 1999. Her experience ranges from dependency and neglect work as respondent parents' attorney and as a guardian ad litem to highly litigated divorce and most recently mediation. She has been trained in Collaborative Law and is working with the legal community and other professionals to deter clients from litigating their family law matters and instead mediating and/or making their own determinations about how the family will exist in the future. Teddi Ann is a member of the Colorado Bar Association; the Family Law Section of the Denver Bar Association; the Continental Divide Bar Association; and the Mile High, Denver and Peak-to-Peak collaborative law practice groups.
Mediation
In almost every divorce case the parties are ordered into mediation before the Court will hear any disputes. Because of this, I encourage parties to consider meeting with us to attempt to mediate their divorce prior to retaining counsel and beginning a heated and litigated divorce.
My role as a mediator is significantly different than that of the attorney, as I do not represent either party and I do not offer legal advice. Instead, I facilitate the communication between the parties to assist them in finding their own solution and determining what is best for them.
After working the past 8 years in the realm of family law litigation, I participated in a 40-hour training session with Ms. Judy Mares Dixon through the Denver Bar Association. With this training, my family law experience, and my personal skills that lend to the success of a good mediator, I am confident you will not regret attempting to resolve your legal issues with your spouse or partner before involving attorneys and the litigation process.
Collaborative Law
After counseling so many clients through litigation and the court system for their divorce, I couldn't be more excited about Collaborative Divorce.
In the Collaborative model, the attorneys for the parties are specially trained to work together with a team of other professionals - such as a financial neutral, divorce coaches, if necessary, a parenting coordinator or a mediator - to resolve the dissolution in a manner that benefits the entire family instead of just his or her client. By doing this, I believe, the parties are better able to avoid post-decree matters, and have a more complete resolution by making all of their own decisions for the family.
In Collaborative Divorce, the parties work on their own time frames, and ideally with less confrontation and more cooperation. As a collaborative divorce attorney, I act as your legal counselor while working with the other attorney - also collaboratively trained - to determine what experts will be needed, what the issues of contention are, and to help the parties find ways to resolve those issues for the benefit of the whole family.
There is no one that knows you, your spouse, or your children better than you. Don't leave life-long decisions to a third party simply because you want your day in Court. Figure it out on your own! Collaborate. Don't litigate!
