FREE CONSULTATION:

I offer a free consultation to explain the benefits of mediation for addressing a marriage in a state of transition, and to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the process and how it can work for you and your family.

JUNE JACOBSON, J.D., M.S.W.

June Jacobson is an experienced family and divorce mediator and trainer of mediators. In addition, she is an attorney, admitted to the New York State bar in 1980, and a psychotherapist and certified (now licensed clinical) social worker since 1987.

As an attorney, June is knowledgeable about the New York State laws and practice that govern all aspects of the process of separation and divorce. Because she is an attorney, June is qualified to draft an agreement reached in mediation into a legally binding Separation or Marital Settlement Agreement, and can also draft and file all of the other documents necessary to finalize your divorce.

Because of her experience as a psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker, June is able to create a safe and supportive environment in which separating spouses can explore and express their needs and concerns at a time of great stress and upheaval. She understands the emotional, psychological, and financial aspects of separation and divorce, and their impact on all members of the family. She is able to guide spouses in parenting their children during a difficult period of transition, and to help them develop the communication skills that will serve them and their children in the years ahead.

June teaches divorce mediation as an adjunct professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University, and has appeared on national television and in the New York Times and Time Magazine as an expert on the legal and psychological implications of divorce and parenthood. She is also a divorced parent who has successfully co-parented with her ex-husband for over 14 years.

June is Immediate Past President of the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York (FDMCGNY) and is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation (NYSCDM). She is an Accredited Member of NYSCDM and an Advanced Practitioner Member of the Association for Conflict Resolution (formerly Academy of Family Mediators). She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the National Association of Social Workers.
