Child support in Massachusetts is governed by the Child Support Guidelines. Many factors affect the calculation of child support, such as the income of both parents, the number of children to be provided with support and their ages, and whether one parent provides health insurance coverage for the children.

Exceptions are provided for cases of shared or split physical custody, or cases where the combined gross income of both parents exceeds $100,000 and where the income of the non-custodial parent exceeds $75,000.
