In most cases, child support is set by statute. Using a formula designed by the Utah legislature, a rather simple calculation is used to determine the amount of child support which a person will pay or receive based on the parties' incomes, the number of minor children, the person with whom the children will live, and the amount of child care expenses and medical and dental insurance costs.

You can easily determine your child support obligation by use of the free Utah Child Support Calculator. Merely enter the requested information, press CALCULATE, and the program will calculate the amount of support you will pay or receive.

Two free versions of the calculator are available. The World Wide Web version will calculate support instantly without the need to download anything.  However, the World Wide Web version will not print completed worksheets and will not calculate support for the children in Present Home Worksheet.  The second version is shareware which can be downloaded from our site. The shareware version will only calculate child support for sole custody cases and will not print completed child support worksheets. The software runs under Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 and was written using Microsoft Visual Basic 4.0.

You may also purchase a fully functional calculator that will calculate and print all child support worksheets.  It runs only in Windows 95.  For more information on purchasing the calculator, click here.
