Question:

How long will marriage dissolution take in Ohio?

Answer:

In Ohio, you can end your marriage through dissolution or divorce. In a dissolution, the spouses jointly ask the court to end their marriage. Before filing for dissolution, the couple must agree on all the terms of the dissolution in a separation agreement. So part of the answer to your question depends on how long it takes the couple to reach an agreement.

Once the spouses reach an agreement and file it with the court, the court must hold a hearing within 30 to 90 days. At the hearing, both spouses must appear and state that they want a dissolution, that the agreement was voluntary, and that they are satisfied with it. The court may then grant a dissolution.
