Approximately 40 years ago, after I had not seen my husband for a year or so, he called me on the phone and said "I have gotten a divorce and am now remarried.” He would not tell me anymore about his whereabouts. I never saw him or heard from him again. Am I legally divorced? -- Marjorie

Marjorie: In order to be sure, you're going to have to track him down and get a copy of the divorce order, or check the courthouse records in the places where he lived at the time. Some courts are online so you may be able to search those records for proof of your divorce.
