Divorce was final a year ago and I was awarded half his IRA. I kept regular contact with my lawyer's office, asking when paperwork would be done (was told I couldn't do this myself). Recently got a whopping bill for services regarding this, only to find out a 2 minute download of a form was all that was needed, plus a guaranteed signature and a certified copy of our decree. Lawyer's office says they found this out AFTER they'd done 3 hours worth of work (company originally told them a QUADRO was needed). Should I be responsible for the mistake? I've offered to split the bill to be fair. Lawyer won't even respond.-- Kathy

Kathy: I am all for lawyers getting paid, but they have to respond to billing inquiries from their clients. And they are required by law to charge reasonable fees. Most bar associations have fee resolution programs.
